Positive child guidance helps children build confidence, belonging, self-regulation and healthy relationships. Understanding children’s behaviour and responding respectfully are important parts of supportive early learning environments.
BITTS International Career College’s Child Guidance short course introduces students to behaviour as communication, developmental influences on behaviour, temperament, responsive relationships and inclusive guidance. Students explore positive communication, routines, redirection, co-regulation, emotional literacy, peer relationships, conflict resolution and problem-solving.
Through guided scenarios, observation activities and a behaviour guidance plan, students learn to recognize possible underlying needs, respond to challenging behaviour with dignity, and collaborate appropriately with families and colleagues. The course addresses culturally responsive practice, confidentiality, documentation and professional boundaries. Delivery is asynchronous through Moodle.
